Summary
Maintains computer hardware, software and systems as well as fulfills technical support requests for staff and students in the school district. Tasks include operating, supporting and troubleshooting problems on servers and desktops, mobile devices, network equipment, A/V equipment, and phone and peripheral equipment. Helps staff improve their understanding of hardware and software, creates documentation/training resources, and trains users while in the field. Performs all other work as required.
Essential Functions

Responds to a wide variety of student and staff requests. Troubleshoots problems independently and/or with team collaboration. Provides courteous and professional customer service for all students and staff.
Documents and escalates unresolved issues appropriately. Follows through to ensure timely resolution of support tickets.
Follows district policies and best practices for data privacy and security. Maintains the confidentiality of student and staff information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., FERPA, CIPA).
Remains informed on emerging cybersecurity risks, trends, and protocols to help protect district systems, networks, and data.
Responsible for device/system maintenance and preparation. Updates and maintains user and district devices and software. Installs new software per user request and department needs.
Collaborates with event organizers and facilities staff on technology needs. Provides set-up and break-down of equipment (projectors, screens, laptops, etc.).
Posts and updates content on the district website as directed. Ensures information remains current, relevant, and accessible for students, staff, and the community.
Researches and formulates new solutions for department tasks and ongoing problems. Improves existing solutions and proposes new ones to the team.
Creates how-to instructions for users and updates department documentation. Maintains inventory of new and existing technology assets. Organizes equipment to ensure a clean work area.
Attends weekly team workshops to learn new skills and technology for professional development.
Consistently seeks opportunities to support the team.
Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma, Associate’s Degree in Information Technology preferred; three to five (3-5) years of administrative, computer experience or related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Comp TIA A+ or equivalent certification.
Knowledge, Ability, Skill

Knowledge:

Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and standards of educational technology. Awareness of cybersecurity best practices, including the ability to recognize and respond to potential threats. General office knowledge, working knowledge of the departmental operations.

Ability:

Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff and students. Ability to work independently and with others in a wide variety of circumstances. Ability to use technology. Ability to interact with users of the system and work through complaints. Ability to take initiative, identify needs, and proactively address tasks without direct supervision.

Skills:

Excellent skills of observation and listening skills. Proficiency in a variety of software. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Skill to work independently and with others. Excellent technology skills.

Responsibility:

Performs varied and highly responsible duties requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations and the exercise of considerable judgment and initiative, particularly in situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedures.
Job Environment
Work is performed under typical office conditions; the work environment is moderately noisy.
Operates computer, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, and other standard office equipment.
Contacts are by phone, through correspondence, and in person; they generally consist of an information exchange dialogue, discussing routine and semi-complex issues.
Makes frequent contact with school department staff and students.
Employee has access to departmental confidential information.
Errors could result in delay of department services and have legal and/or financial repercussions.

This position requires the ability to operate a keyboard and calculator at an efficient speed.
