Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer with strong mainframe experience to join our team. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in COBOL, DB2, JCL, and SQL to support mainframe applications and contribute to various development and maintenance projects. Ideal candidates will also have experience with tools such as Syncsort and z/OS. The role requires strong debugging skills, the ability to work with legacy systems, and a keen problem-solving approach. Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and support COBOL-based applications.
Work with DB2 databases, JCL, and other mainframe technologies to ensure system stability and performance.
Perform detailed debugging and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues.
Utilize query tools to extract, modify, and manage data effectively.
Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement solutions for business needs.
Ensure the integrity and security of data, especially in legacy systems.
Work within IBM products like Syncsort, z/OS, and other mainframe-based tools.
Required Qualifications
Extensive experience in COBOL development.
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Solid experience with DB2, JCL, and SQL.
Experience with mainframe tools such as Syncsort, z/OS, and query tools.
Strong background in querying and ability to demonstrate relevant concepts during the interview. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a healthcare environment or with healthcare clients.
Based in or willing to work in Birmingham.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt and work well with others in a collaborative environment. Certifications
Any relevant certifications (optional, but beneficial).
