DevOps Engineer (SME)
Job Description ECS is seeking a DevOps Engineer (SME) to work in our Redstone Arsenal, AL office.
Please Note:
This position is contingent upon contract award. ECS is seeking a highly experienced and skilled DevOps Engineer with a Top Secret clearance to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one of our mission-critical programs for the Department of Justice. As a SME, you will be responsible for providing expert-level technical guidance and support to our team, leveraging your deep knowledge of DevOps practices, cloud computing, and security engineering to ensure the success of our projects.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DevOps practices, cloud computing, and security engineering, providing expert-level technical guidance and support to the team.
Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of DevOps tools, technologies, and best practices, including automation frameworks, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and containerization.
Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure cloud-based infrastructure, leveraging AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of security concepts, including firewalls, encryption, identity management, and hardening, and ensure that all systems and applications meet or exceed security requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and maintenance, including development, quality assurance, and operations teams.
Provide expert-level technical guidance and support to the team, including troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving complex technical issues.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical guides, best practices, and knowledge bases.
Required Skills
Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI with CI Polygraph
Bachelor’s degree plus 15 years of relevant experience (required)
Demonstrated working knowledge in multiple areas, including: Security Engineering
IT systems engineering
UI/UX
Front-end engineering
API development
Data engineering
AWS/Cloud experience, including design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable and secure cloud-based infrastructure
Full lifecycle engineering project experience
5+ years of experience with deploying and maintaining IT development and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Nexus, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
5+ years of experience with system administrative scripting (bash, Python, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with administration of LDAP
Experience with building custom solutions within a micro-service driven IT infrastructure
Desired Skills
Schedule and coordinate system maintenance activities to reduce impact to the production environment
Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization
Experience with administration of identity and access management systems
Experience with cloud-based security services, including IAM, Cognito, and CloudTrail
Experience with cloud-based monitoring and logging services, including CloudWatch and Cloud Logging
Experience with cloud-based backup and disaster recovery services, including AWS Backup and AWS CloudFormation
