Job Description
Description SAIC is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to support the design, deployment, and automation of secure, cloud-based systems in an agile development environment. The ideal candidate brings experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipeline development, containerization, and secure application deployment practices. This engineer will support DEVCOM AvMC Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration (S3I) located on Redstone Arsenal/Huntsville, Alabama. This role supports our mission to streamline product delivery by automating infrastructure provisioning, software build/test/deployment workflows, and release management. You’ll work closely with development, operations, and security teams to enhance reliability, performance, and compliance across environments from development through production. Responsibilities Design, deploy, operate, and maintain secure cloud-native infrastructure to support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes. Develop and maintain fully automated build, integration, and deployment pipelines using Git, Docker, and cloud-native tools. Support source control management and automation practices; write and maintain custom scripts for infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring (Python, Bash, PowerShell). Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) and container orchestration for scalable, reproducible environments. Integrate static and dynamic security analysis tools into pipelines to enforce secure coding practices. Collaborate with developers and InfoSec teams to enforce policies, standards, and DevSecOps best practices across environments. Provide automation and operational support for cloud environments (AWS preferred), VMs (VMware), and containers. Continuously identify and implement ways to improve reliability, security, and performance in development and operations workflows.
Qualifications Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred and minimum of 2 years of experience in DevOps, security engineering, or a related field; Additional six (6) years’ experience can be considered in lieu of degree (per contract vehicle).
Clearance:
Must possess an active Secret security clearance or have the ability to obtain one; US Citizenship required.
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of security principles and best practices, including threat modeling, risk assessment, and vulnerability management. Proficiency with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and version control systems (Git). Strong scripting and automation skills using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about potential security issues and solutions. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and educate team members.
Desired Qualifications:
Solid understanding of cloud security concepts and experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Sec+ Skilled in threat detection, code analysis, and secure software lifecycle practices. Comfortable operating in Linux (Debian) and Windows environments.
