Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be based in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a critical component of the Missile Defense System. It enables strategic planning and management of networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve mission objectives.
C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability, optimizing responses to threats across all phases of flight. It is integral to all system ground and flight tests, verifying and exercising current and future missile defense capabilities.
As a member of the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART) of the Missile Defense National Team for C2BMC, you will contribute to software design, implement Java-based software changes, support design and code reviews, and assist in software testing and issue resolution.

Essential Functions:

Experience in the BMDS domain and Java application development, particularly for military applications
Conduct software integration testing, review system behavior issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, work independently, and adapt to a dynamic environment
Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment, including systems engineering, integration and test, deployment, and warfighter support
Proficiency in MS Office products is required

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline (Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields) from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline or related field and 3 years of experience, or a PhD with a minimum of 1 year of related work experience
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, CISSP, CISA, etc.) is required at the start date
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10 to support business needs
Experience in full life-cycle development of complex mathematical algorithms for Java-based military applications
Experience in Agile development processes and

DEVSECOPS

frameworks on Unix/Linux platforms
Proficiency with git/GitLab, Eclipse, Maven/Gradle, SonarQube, or similar toolsets
Experience in developing automated unit tests and verifying requirements
Familiarity with system engineering artifacts such as ICDs, use cases, and sequence diagrams
Experience with MATLAB-based algorithms and their implementation in Java-based software

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in STEM-related discipline is highly desired

Salary Range:

$105,400 – $158,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
