- The Role
- Lumen Technologies is seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Vice President (SVP) of Architecture to lead our Digital Platform Strategy and North Star Architecture initiatives.
This role will be pivotal in driving the architectural vision and strategy for our billing systems, ERP, Salesforce, and other critical platforms. The SVP Architecture will work closely with senior leadership, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with Lumen’s strategic goals and operational excellence. Additionally, this role will have a specific focus on overseeing operations in India, a critical strategic location for Lumen.
- The Main Responsibilities

Digital Platform Strategy:
- + Develop and execute a comprehensive digital platform strategy that aligns with Lumen’s business objectives and growth plans.
+ Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance digital platforms, including billing systems, ERP, and Salesforce. + Ensure seamless integration of digital platforms with existing systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.

North Star Architecture:
- + Define and communicate the North Star Architecture vision, guiding the evolution of Lumen’s technology landscape. + Establish architectural principles, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all technology initiatives. + Drive the adoption of modern architectural patterns, including microservices, cloud-native architectures, and API-driven development.

Leadership and Collaboration:
- + Lead a team of architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. + Collaborate with senior leadership, product management, and business units to understand their needs and translate them into architectural solutions. + Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the architecture team, ensuring the development of skills and capabilities.

Technology and Innovation:
- + Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on Lumen’s architecture and strategy. + Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and approaches that can enhance Lumen’s competitive advantage. + Ensure the architecture supports Lumen’s goals for AI capability building, operational excellence, and cross-functional effectiveness.

Operational Excellence:
- + Elevate engineering discipline and program management to ensure high standards of operational excellence. + Implement best-in-class operational tools and business systems to support product and engineering teams. + Ensure clear roles and responsibilities within the architecture team to enhance accountability and streamline decision-making.

Strategic Oversight of India Operations:
- + Oversee and manage architectural and technological initiatives in India, ensuring alignment with Lumen’s global strategy. + Leverage India’s strategic importance to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and talent utilization. + Collaborate with local teams to ensure successful implementation of digital platform strategies and North Star Architecture principles.
- What We Look For in a Candidate

Qualifications:
- + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
+ 15+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a focus on architecture and digital platform strategy. + Proven track record of leading large-scale architectural transformations in a complex, global organization. + Deep expertise in billing systems, ERP, Salesforce, and other enterprise platforms. + Strong understanding of modern architectural patterns, including microservices, cloud-native architectures, and API-driven development. + Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. + Ability to think strategically and execute methodically, with a strong focus on delivering results.

Preferred Qualifications:
- + Experience in the telecommunications industry. + Knowledge of AI and machine learning technologies. + Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
