ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the President, the Lead Architect will play a key leadership role in managing the planning and execution of new ground-up development projects. They will have exposure to all aspects of the development cycle—from acquisition and entitlements to financing, design, and construction. This position is based in Miami and will require regular travel throughout the city to project sites, meetings with public and private partners, and engagement with local communities. The Lead Architect will be responsible for leading the architectural vision and design management of all development projects within our growing Miami portfolio. As a licensed architect in the state of Florida, the Lead Architect will oversee all phases of design, from early concept through to construction documents, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards of design, efficiency, and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architectural design direction for all projects, ensuring alignment with company values of design excellence, livability, and community impact. Manage third-party consultants to guide projects through schematic design, design development, and construction drawings, and construction administration. Provide redlines, technical guidance, and architectural oversight for all construction drawings and permit sets, ensuring code compliance and ease of construction. Coordinate closely with internal development and construction teams to ensure design intent is maintained through budgeting, scheduling, and construction. Review zoning, building codes, ADA, FHA and other applicable regulations to inform project feasibility and entitlement strategy. Assist with material selection, interiors, sub-contractor buyout, value engineering, and shop drawing review. Represent the company in meetings with city officials, permitting agencies, design review boards, and any community groups. Evaluate potential development sites and assist in shaping the initial vision/layout during acquisition. Establish and uphold design standards and processes across all company projects.
Qualifications:
Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution. Active architecture license in the State of Florida (required). 2+ years of professional experience, including leading multifamily residential projects from design through construction with ability to fully design and draft projects. Deep knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting procedures in Miami and the broader South Florida region. Strong experience producing and reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, construction documents and 3D renderings Proven ability to manage consultants, interface with city agencies, and work collaboratively with development and construction teams. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
