DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective Dignitas Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Lead Developer to oversee the full lifecycle of software product development, from initial concept through final delivery. This role involves hands-on software design and development, primarily using game engines such as Unity, and includes strategic direction, team leadership, and mentoring of junior developers. The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly organized, and capable of guiding a development team through planning, execution, and delivery phases while ensuring adherence to best practices and customer requirements. Essential Job Functions/Duties Leads and supervises the design and develop simulation subsystems: Designs/codes applications following specifications using the Unity gaming engine.
Exercises independent judgment and discretion in overall project management by prioritizing, planning and tracking project progress.
Designs, develops, and modifies programs, including prototypes.
Research product development options and provides analysis for product direction.
Consults with internal functional areas to identify customer needs and include into project objectives. Provides support regarding product development to internal departments.
Manages and directs up to four to five software developers. Supports evaluation of software engineers’ performance, sets project expectations and goals for team members, and mentors/trains staff.
Creates/Maintains accurate and up-to-date technical and project documentation Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Desired Skills:
Proficient in C#, C++, and WPF application development
5+ years’ experience using Gaming Engine (e.g., Unity and Unreal)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent understanding with structured data formats, particularly JSON
Strong Background in modeling and simulation environments
Extensive experience with bug tracking and task management applications such as Jira or Microsoft DevOps
Expert understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Experience working within an agile development environment

Required Education/Certifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience as software developer/ supervisor. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Candidate must be capable of obtaining and maintaining US Department of Defense secret security clearance.
