Bartelt Packaging, a Pro Mach Company is looking for an experience Senior Applications Engineer to join its team in Sarasota, Florida. The Senor Applications Engineer’s job duties span several functions at Bartelt Packaging including Sales Support, R D and Production Engineering. Sales duties include technical support for the Inside Sales team including sales presentation models and drawings. Research and Development and Engineering duties include conceptualizing, testing and analysis of new machine and manufacturing technologies, applications, experiments on new packaging materials and new package designs. As a Senior Application Engineer, you will… Provides technical assistance to Sales and Marketing by creating application layouts as well as models and/or pictures for proposals and presentations. Creates animations for Sales and Engineering to illustrate concepts and functionality. Supports Sales by working with 3 rd parts vendors (product fillers, conveyors, auxiliary packaging equipment, etc.) to source solutions. Works with Engineering and Sales to develop and maintain cost sheets based on standard engineering BOMs. Works with Production Engineering Team on development of new applications including, but not limited to, film/substrate, zipper, pouch geometry, pouch manipulation, and product handling techniques; produces sample pouches and product mock-ups for sales and marketing and/or technical purposes to deliver a package systems approach to customer. Acts as additional resource for fill tests using customers’ products and technical specifications for proposals or projects. Acts as additional resource for CAD Management. May act as additional (overflow) resource for Project Engineering support. Works with Marketing and Aftermarket on the creation of standard conversion templates – providing technical support, drawings, models, layouts as required. Working closely with Production Engineering, work in the R D Lab to develop, fabricate, assemble and test new machine technologies to complete Proof of Concepts (POC). Actively participate in brainstorming and cross-functional meetings to collaborate on new and existing machine technologies and platforms; creates conceptual drawings to illustrate and support findings of these meetings. Interfaces with packaging material suppliers (i.e. film suppliers) and 3 rd party equipment suppliers (i.e. ultrasonic, scale, etc.) to learn about new products and technology and apply this knowledge on applications. Works with Sales and Engineering to evaluate existing machine technology to identify areas for cost savings, optimization and technology / product improvements. Brainstorm and conceptualize new solutions to new and existing machine platform problems. Travel will be infrequent – less than 10%. Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or a related field. Ten years technical experience involving design, assembly or service of packaging/processing machinery in a food, chemical or industrial environment; at least five of those years working with Bartelt packaging equipment. Hands-on mechanical aptitude including use of various hand tools, precision measuring equipment and computers. Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and Autodesk Inventor (3D) including animation packages. Experienced machine designer with substantial experience satisfying customer application requirements. Must be able to travel less than 10% of the time. What’s in it for you?
