Description The Senior Software Developer will have a strong proficiency in Python & Java and practical exposure to Cerner and Epic EHR systems. This role focuses on building scalable, maintainable backend applications that support clinical operations, integration workflows, and automation-without direct involvement in data migration. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with clinical stakeholders and has a passion for clean code, modern DevOps practices, and healthcare technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Led a cross-functional team of developers to deliver high-impact solutions, ensuring alignment on goals, timelines, and technical direction while promoting collaboration, accountability, and quality delivery. Designed, developed, and maintained Python & Java-based applications, APIs, and automation scripts integrated with internal and external healthcare systems to support clinical workflows and system interoperability. Analyzed and interpreted Cerner assets including Rules, MPages, and CCL logic to support transition initiatives and ensure continuity of critical functionality in evolving workflows. Collaborated with Epic technical teams to integrate with FHIR, Epic Interconnect, and other Epic APIs, enabling seamless workflow enhancements and data exchange. Partnered with product owners, EHR analysts, and clinical informaticists to translate business and clinical requirements into reliable, scalable technical solutions. Contributed to the design and implementation of cloud-native integration patterns, leveraging modern development practices and automation to streamline clinical operations. Estimated salary range for this position is $95253.32 – $123829.32 / year depending on experience.
Qualifications Degrees:
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field.
Required Qualifications:
7 years of experience in Python software development, with a focus on backend services or integration tools.
Practical experience with:
Cerner Rules Engine MPages (JavaScript/HTML) CCL Understanding of Cerner & Epic EHR, including FHIR APIs, Interconnect, or general module workflows. Experience with RESTful API development, clinical data structures (FHIR, HL7), and application security. Strong collaboration and communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with CI/CD tools, especially GitLab pipelines Lead small team and delivered a common goal. Familiarity with containerization and deployment using Docker Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) in cloud environments (e.g., AWS or Azure) Exposure to healthcare integration platforms like Redox, Mirth, or Epic Bridges Familiarity with FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python frameworks Knowledge of
HIPAA, PHI
handling, and secure development practices
