Primary Responsibility:
Acts as the warehousing practices and architecture expert for the company and the WMS deployments. Proactively identifies specific warehousing requirements working closely with the Distribution Support and WMS Deployment teams, advises on and supports customer meetings, and contributes to the functional analysis of any intermediate to large warehousing application projects. Provides guidance on data conversion activities to ensure alignment with standard systems architecture. Provides off-hours support as required. What you’ll Do Maintains awareness of emerging warehousing technologies and best practices, supporting infrastructure layers, industry trends and vendor architecture strategies. Assists in the research and evaluation of proposed technologies / practices for applicability to the company, performance, reliability, cost, integration requirements, and assists in determining the place in company’s software architecture strategy. Mentors team members on new techniques / practices Identifies site specific warehousing practices or requirements and gap resolutions based on the larger application architecture strategy, customer profile, and site’s operating practices by interrogating the company’s legacy applications. Works closely with the site survey team to estimate the effort and prioritize the work to meet the site’s specific requirements and gaps within the existing application framework, such that incremental changes further our application strategy. Assists in the planning and coordination of launches of new software at new or converting sites Operates as a working team member on the WMS deployment team, providing guidance on the design, development and evaluation of test plans for identified functionality gaps for launch sites or new customer projects Advises on and supports customer meetings regarding WMS capabilities, current warehousing practices versus the customer requirements, developing / assisting with the development of sales presentation materials and RFQ responses Provides guidance on data conversion activities to ensure alignment with standard systems architecture Leverages WMS application, customer and industry expertise to explain operational / billing requirements, legacy resolution methods and techniques and evaluate proposed solutions in warehouse application suite for necessary functionality and impact on plant floor operations and revenue Contributes to the functional analysis, architecture design of all intermediate to large legacy warehousing application projects. Builds organizational awareness of warehousing best practices and where / how the WMS encapsulates those capabilities As capacity allows, analyzes current warehousing applications for opportunities for large efficiency gains in the application administration/management or opportunities for large improvements in robustness or performance. Designs and/or recommends tools and/or customizations that realize those gains Acts as tier III functional support for legacy WMS application, resolving escalated WMS support issues and provides launch support for WMS Deployment team Performs other duties and assists other staff as necessary or as directed by management. What Experience and Education You Need Bachelor’s Degree in MIS or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10 years of functional and technical WMS experience with multiple WMS applications, specifically within the frozen food industry. Considered an industry, warehousing and WMS expert. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Variable work hours required. Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. What Could Set You Apart BlueYonder and Korber WMS experience is preferred. Broad knowledge of various application and infrastructure technologies and hardware platforms. Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrated strong business background. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to think strategically and act tactically. Ability to operate under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates and can maintain a positive, can-do attitude in stressful situations, leading by example. Physical Requirements Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions. Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, or bending. Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work. Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks. May require travel by automobile and airplane for business. May require visits to warehouse operations in temperatures at or below freezing. May require carrying loads related to travel and the occasional lifting, carrying, positioning, and/or moving of objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires the use of various electronic tools.
