Job Description

Vaco is partnering with a Phoenix-based client to hire an Engineering Lead to help build and transform their internal platforms. This key role will work closely with teams to implement coding best practices, design patterns, and architectural strategies while mentoring and developing engineering talent. As an Engineering Lead, you’ll be hands-on across both front-end and back-end development, collaborating with scrum teams to tackle complex challenges. You’ll help deliver solutions using React and Next.js with a strong emphasis on UI/UX excellence. Position Overview:
Architectural Design:

Collaborate with Architects to understand requirements and propose scalable, high-performance solutions aligned with business goals.

Technical Leadership:

Mentor senior and junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and elevate overall engineering excellence.

Continuous Improvement:

Solve complex, system-wide challenges focused on optimization, performance, and scalability.

Standardization and Best Practices:

Evaluate codebases and initiatives, creating technical documentation to support standardization and reporting.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work cross-functionally to address technical challenges and ensure successful project delivery.

System Support:

Configure, customize, and integrate software and hardware components. Conduct system testing and troubleshooting to ensure quality and reliability. Provide maintenance, support, and upgrades for deployed solutions.

Requirements:

7+ years of experience in software engineering and/or enterprise web development. Strong knowledge of APIs, publish/subscribe patterns, and technologies including Node.js, Next.js, React, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Java, Kotlin, MuleSoft, Kafka, AWS Cloud, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Microservices. Expertise in solution deployment, operational support, and ensuring functionality and reliability. Familiarity with Twelve-Factor App methodology. Strong proficiency in programming languages, frameworks, and design patterns. Agile mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. Proven ability to solve complex technical problems with creative solutions. Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
