Preferred candidates located in Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, Omaha, or Denver. Candidates outside these locations will also be considered but must be willing to relocate. Exceptions may be made for remote candidates.

Hybrid – Return to office mandate (3 days per week) upon conversion to Full-Time Employee (FTE). Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and customization of mainframe systems and software. This position requires exceptional problem-solving skills, collaboration capabilities, and the ability to manage and support mission-critical environments. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain zOSMF, zOWE, TADz, and zOS, along with third-party software. Utilize SMP/e for maintaining, installing, and customizing the mainframe z/OS operating system environment for IBM and third-party software products. Apply program temporary fixes (PTFs) and support product exits. Modify IOCDS or IODF for new hardware installations and work with IBM hardware. Manage Coupling Facilities in Sysplex environments and support GDPS software for data replication. Provide on-call support on a rotational basis and implement changes during weeknights and weekends as required. Diagnose complex issues and recommend effective solutions. Follow Change and Incident Management procedures and create technical documentation, including software upgrade and backout processes. Required Skills and Experience Proven expertise with SMP/e, z/OS installation, and customization. Strong knowledge of IBM hardware and configurations (IOCDS/IODF). Experience managing Coupling Facilities in Sysplex and supporting GDPS environments. Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving technical issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word and Excel. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams. Work Conditions Must be available to work weeknights and weekends to implement changes as needed. Provide rotational on-call support for critical systems.
