Description1898 & Co., a division of Burns & McDonnell, isseeking a Senior Solution Architect focused on OperationalTechnologies to provide utility grid modernization consultingservices for our electric utility clients. The selected candidatewill join the Enterprise System & Integration team, which isfocused on providing Enterprise Solution Services delivering highvalue to our clients through a variety of leading technologies. TheSenior Solution Architect shall possess strong electric utilitybusiness and technology acumen. The Senior Solution Architect willprovide professional consulting services focused on the OperationalTechnology aspects solutions such as Advanced DistributionManagement Systems (ADMS), Distributed Energy Resource ManagementSystems (DERMS), IEC-61850 Enabled Digital Substations, BatteryEnergy Storage Systems (BESS), and the associated enabling networksincluding Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), andField Area Networks (FAN). Candidates must also have strong projectexecution capabilities, strong leadership and collaborationcapabilities, and excellent communication skills, be focused oncontinuous improvement and enterprise innovation, and have strongattention to detail while delivering high-quality work to ourclients.
The Senior Enterprise Systems Solution Architect will beresponsible for providing strategic guidance, road mapping,research, planning, and leading practices to our client’s executiveleaders to make investment decisions aligned with theorganization’s long-term vision. This role is responsible forensuring the execution of various solutions and/or offerings forclient engagements. The Senior Solution Architect will develop andlead the execution of efforts to deliver solutions offerings andarchitecture services to our clients in support of technology,process, and application solutions.
Responsibilities Lead the design, development, architecture, and implementationof technology solutions to support complex businessrequirements. Lead the activities associated with analysis, design, build,test, triaging defects, configuration, and deployment. Lead technology solution program estimating, planning, andbudgeting efforts. Ability to support Enterprise Program Management activitiesutilizing various methodologies such as but not limited toWaterfall and Agile methods. Assist in the successful completion of the project per thebudget, scope, quality, and attainment of the business objectives.
Supervise the overall project status and progress and ensure allscheduled milestones and delivery dates are met. Responsible for overall project quality of deliverables. Support department management in the evaluation of teamperformance and development of training programs. Validate that the solution and architecture designs utilize theintegration architecture components appropriately. Manage functional and technical aspects of proposed solutionsfrom inception through delivery. Lead quality checks to support a successful solutiondeployment. Evaluate delivery process, technical solutions and trainingprocedures and make improvements to facilitate the best possiblecustomer experience. Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers,and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsiblefor ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations aremet. Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identifycritical pursuits. Participate in the development of proposals and qualificationstatements to achieve stated targets and standards for financialperformance. Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the departmentby mentoring less experienced staff. Responsible for effective communication with otherdisciplines. Responsible for QA/QC process adherence. Responsible for compliance with company and site safetypolicies. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science,Information Technology, or a closely related field from anaccredited program and 7 years of relevant experience. Applicableyears of experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Architecture and integration skills, including areas such asdata architecture, cloud architecture, middleware, communications,or other architectural methods and practices. Understanding of current and emerging associated technologiesto manage and deliver quality enterprise solutions in bothInformation Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT)domains. Experience with a variety of project executionmethodologies. Experience with leading-edge application(s), operationstechnology and solutions utilizing various industry standardtools. Experience developing executive-level technology assessments,roadmap strategies focusing on enterprise and/or operationtechnologies. Preferred experience with electric utility clients implementingand integrating operational systems such as OMS, ADMS, AMI, DERMS,IEC-61850, SCADA, Fiber or FAN networks. Strong ability to influence or lead project execution. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
