Job Description
VetsEZ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Developer to serve as the Technical Lead for a critical modernization initiative. This role will lead the transition of a legacy PHP application from CodeIgniter to Laravel, setting the architectural direction, mentoring other developers, and driving the successful delivery of a cloud-based web solution. The ideal candidate brings deep Laravel experience, full-stack capability, and a passion for solving complex problems with clean, scalable code. The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead the design, development, and deployment of modern Laravel applications. + Oversee migration from CodeIgniter to Laravel with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and clean architecture. + Mentor developers, uphold code quality, and foster team knowledge-sharing. + Write secure, maintainable code with strong documentation and testing. + Review and approve code to ensure consistency and best practices. + Participate in Agile ceremonies via Microsoft Teams. + Track tasks and deliverables using internal project tools. + Stay up to date on security protocols and development trends. + Tackle complex problems independently while supporting team growth. + Design with empathy and prioritize the user experience. + Collaborate effectively to support shared goals. + Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project. Requirements + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years in full-stack PHP development with deep Laravel experience. + Proven success migrating legacy applications like CodeIgniter. + Proficient in Vue.js and modern JavaScript frameworks. + Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and preprocessors like
SASS/LESS.
+ Git expertise and familiarity with Unix/Linux environments. + Experience working with RESTful APIs. + Detail-oriented and user-focused approach. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + U.S. work authorization required. Additional Qualifications + Experience with Docker and containerized development. + Familiarity with AWS services and CI/CD pipelines. + Strong SQL and database optimization skills. + Background in healthcare or government projects. + Passion for creating intuitive, high-performance UIs.
