Position Summary:

A leading manufacturer and service provider of industrial gears and gear drives is seeking a qualified Application Engineer/Estimator. This critical role is responsible for providing accurate pricing and cost estimates for the design, production, or repair of industrial gears and gear drives. The ideal candidate will analyze customer specifications, determine project requirements, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver precise and competitive quotes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Review project requests with customers and/or sales representatives.
Analyze customer-supplied drawings, specifications, and technical data.
Evaluate gearboxes for repair projects and define the scope of work.
Develop preliminary designs and technical specifications.
Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, logistics, and engineering.
Ensure customer purchase orders align with quoted terms and expectations.
Submit quotes in coordination with the sales team.
Support the Applications Engineering team to meet project deadlines and customer needs.

Qualifications:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of experience in the gear industry preferred.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes for parallel axis gears is a plus.
Experience in quoting industrial gears and gear drives is highly desirable.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Baan).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
