Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong proficiency in COBOL for a long-term contract role in St. Louis, MO
. This position is open only to local candidates who are authorized to work on a W2 basis
. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mainframe systems and be well-versed in COBOL development, testing, and debugging.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs on IBM mainframe systems.
Work with JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2 to build and support business applications.
Analyze existing systems and provide technical solutions for enhancements and maintenance.
Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly.
Participate in code reviews and adhere to best practices and coding standards.
Document technical specifications and system processes.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in COBOL development.
Strong expertise in JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2
.
Experience working in a mainframe environment (IBM z/OS preferred).
Proven ability to debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in financial or insurance domain projects.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Knowledge of integration with modern systems/APIs is a plus.
