Staff Software Engineer, Stream Control PlaneSome may say Cribl’s greatest accomplishment thus far is having our software deployed in some of the largest organizations in the world processing up to petabytes of IT & Security data. As a Staff Engineer working on the Stream Control Plane, you will be a technical expert working alongside skilled engineers as part of a cross functional team that delivers highly reliable and scalable software to drive customer value and satisfaction. This role is equal parts resea rch and development. If you enjoy the challenges of building scalable, robust, and high performing distributed systems that process large data sets in real time, this position may be right for you.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop software that powers the reliable and scalable operation of Cribl Stream such as deployment, configuration, and orchestration of distributed nodes at high scaleWork with a cross functional team of engineers, product managers, and designers to translate feature requirements into technical designs and implementable codeDevelop, test, and maintain robust code that effectively delivers customer valueWork closely with peers to provide feedback on design and code reviewsTake the lead on feature development while balancing the responsibilities of high quality software development and delivering value quickly to our customersDevelop automated tests and comprehensive test plans to ensure high quality code and product features that work as expectedChampion teamwork, engineering best practices, and a customer focused mindsetProvide technical and thought leadership to the products and tools that we delive rIntroduce performance and efficiency improvements across our products and processesMentor and coach junior engineers on the teamEngage our users by contributing to internal and external blogs that relate to the products you help developHelp maintain and support our SaaS products including periodic participation in our 24×7 on-call rotations.

Minimum QualificationsBS in CS/EE with 7+ years of experience or MS with 4+ yearsExpert knowledge and demonstrated experience in building enterprise grade products for highly available distributed systems at scaleExpert knowledge of designing, building and using APIs (e.g. REST and RPC)Expert knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systemsExperience developing and using products in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCPStrong sense of ownership with a focus on high quality deliverablesExcellent verbal and written communication, able to explain complex technical topics to stak holders with ease in remote/distributed work environmentsSelf driven and motivated with a demonstrated track record of learning new technologies and developing prototypes quicklyExcellent ability to maintain focus on outcomes without getting bogged downAbility to write clean, concise, and testable code – JavaScr ipt/TypeScript and NodeJS preferred but not requiredExperience developing unit tests, integration tests, end-to-end tests using tools and frameworks such as Jest, MochaJS, CodeceptJSBonus PointsNo fear! The salary offered within the range described will be based on the individual candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
