Builds, tests, and engineers REST Application Programming Interfaces (API’s). Develops applications using Core Java, Spring MVC, Spring Core, Spring Boot, and Web Services (SOAP/REST). Develops and tests code within a Unix and Windows environment. Implements Test Driven Development (TDD) and unit testing using jUnit, Cucumber, and REST Assured. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts. Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms. Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives. Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation. Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing. Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives. Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems. Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope. Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project. Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) building, testing, and engineering APIs in Java and Spring MVC. Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) building, testing, and engineering APIs in Java and Spring MVC.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) incorporating version control systems (Git) in TDD
- unit, functional, and performance testing
- and Agile (JIRA) environments within a financial services environment using Java based and client-side frameworks (JavaScript and TypeScript).
DE developing API based enterprise J2EE applications in Spring MVC, Spring Core, and SpringBoot frameworks using Amazon Web Services (AWS); designing and developing highly scalable and customer facing RESTful based, production ready applications using software engineering practices
- Object-Oriented Programming Design (OOPD) and Design Patterns; performing distributed batch processing of systems in Spring using Object Model; and facilitating the event streaming of asynchronous communications between micro-services using Apache Kafka and Amazon Kinesis. DE participating in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- performing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) (using Jenkins and UDeploy), functional (using REST Assured), unit (using JUnit), and performance testing (using Mox and Akamai), container runtime and orchestration (using Docker and Kubernetes), and identifying performance bottlenecks, alerts, and observability (using Splunk)
