About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Full Stack Java Developer to join the Risk Simulation team within the Capital Markets Risk Technology (CMRT) group. This team plays a critical role in building and maintaining applications that support firm-wide market risk analysis and reporting.
As a Specialty Software Engineer IV, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of both user-facing and backend systems. You will also support internal developer tools and infrastructure, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability across applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Angular (frontend) and Java (backend).
Build and optimize Java-based batch processing applications for overnight data workflows.
Write clean, secure, and efficient code that adheres to best practices and passes automated code scans.
Develop and maintain SQL Server database objects (e.g., tables, views, stored procedures).
Write unit tests and ensure code quality through peer reviews and CI/CD pipelines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, participating in daily stand-ups and sprint planning.
Troubleshoot build failures and manage project dependencies using Gradle.
Develop one-off tools and scripts to support data migration, performance monitoring, and operational tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on Java and Angular, or equivalent experience through a combination of work, consulting, military service, or education.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
Experience with SQL Server and performance optimization for large datasets.
Familiarity with secure coding practices and automated code quality tools.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with batch processing systems and performance tuning.
Knowledge of risk management or capital markets technology.
Familiarity with Gradle build systems and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
