HMI Application Engineer Location:
Norcross, GA A growing engineering and technology services provider is seeking an HMI Application Engineer to join its team. This role is responsible for developing Human-Machine Interface (HMI) application software that supports project requirements, including configuring SCADA systems, supporting system startup, and delivering training. This individual plays a key role in project implementation from system setup through final commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project managers and engineering supervisors to interpret contract requirements and scope. Provide regular updates on task progress, project milestones, and budget considerations. Create and maintain accurate documentation such as timesheets, trip reports, and technical records. Follow established development standards and engineering best practices. Set up servers, workstations, operating systems, networks, and peripheral equipment for each assigned project. Develop HMI application software per system control narratives using major
HMI/SCADA
platforms (e.g., InTouch, Ignition, VTScada, iFix, or similar). Install and test all application and third-party software for proper execution. Integrate with third-party systems using common industrial communication protocols. Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). Demonstrate system functionality to stakeholders, including visualization, alarming, control, and data reporting. Create custom operational and state reports based on client requirements. Provide user training to operators, supervisors, and administrative staff. Compile and deliver final project documentation packages. Offer post-implementation technical support as needed.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to the department’s HMI Engineering Supervisor or Manager. Receives direction from the project manager and engineering leadership. Works closely with a cross-functional team including developers, designers, and field technicians.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in
HMI/SCADA
application development; experience in water/wastewater automation is a plus. Proficiency in configuring Microsoft operating systems and networks. Hands-on experience with one or more major
HMI/SCADA
platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, VTScada, iFix, FactoryTalk View SE). Strong communication skills and collaborative work style.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer. Capable of lifting and installing computer hardware and peripherals. Must have sufficient vision and hearing to communicate and work effectively with teams and clients.
