(VWT) is currently seeking anI&C Project Engineer for our Cary, NC or Dayton, OH office. TheI&C Project Engineer will review drawings and other documentsand discuss clients requirements to determine scope of work. Tasksinclude determining scope, specifying equipment, selectinginstruments, PLC/HMI programming and/or checkout and configurationof controls for a project. Identify and resolve discrepanciesbetween scope of work and customer’s needs. Coordinate projectactivities between site and office. Must work well with others.
Provide phone support and field Customer Service calls as needed.
Determine scope of work based on customer requests, site equipmentand problems. Design, spec and price controls based on projectrequirements. Perform design and coordinate installations ofcontrol panels. Research new products required for a particularproject. Perform start-up and troubleshooting services. Coordinatewith other start-up personnel when required. Investigate andtroubleshoot electrical issues with start-up and plant personnel.
Participate in meetings to negotiate scope of work. Selectinstruments based on scope of work. Select motor controls based onscope of work. Design or modify PLC/HMI applications to meetproject scope. Coordinate system configuration with other systemproviders. Complete I/O checkout, instrument configuration andrequired documentation for project. Configure electronic motorcontrols such as VFDs and Softstarters. Configure instrumentationto provide signals to be received by the PLC. Investigate andtroubleshoot electrical/programming issues of existing systems.
Implement PLC/OIT controls based on project scope. Coordinate siteactivities between PLC implementation and SCADA. Perform commissiontesting of process control system per project scope. Coordinateconcerns with Customer Service, Process and I&C. Provide techsupport to plant personnel. Provide field reports detailing projectstatus. Other skills needed for this position are but not limitedto the following: Competency with Allen Bradley PLC hardware andsoftware, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair hardwareproblems as well as interpret and modify programs. Competency withAllen Bradley HMI hardware and software, including the ability tomodify applications as necessary. Have some familiarity, butpreferably competent with, Modicon, GE, and Siemens PLCs and HMIsAbility to troubleshoot electrical issues with instrumentation,controls and field wiring. Understanding and configuration ofmultiple venders VFDs (AB, Schneider, etc.) Ability to interpretmanuals and documentation for instrumentation installation, setup,and troubleshooting. Familiarity with networking concepts. Need tobe competent and comfortable setting up, reconfiguring, andtroubleshooting standard Ethernet networks. Familiarity withModbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, and other industrial control protocolsis a plus. Competency with HMI software such as Wonderware, iFix,Cimplicity, RSView Enterprise, etc. Should be competent with atleast one of the major HMI packages to the point where comfortableadding and modifying existing applications. Should be familiar andcomfortable with concepts such as VPN, remote control via RemoteDesktop, VNC, TeamViewer, etc. Should have good customer relationscommunication skills. Travel for this position is approximately60%. Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Electrical EngineeringTechnology or Equivalent Electrical Applied Sciences Disciplines orgreater with a minimum of 5 years experience.
