Technical Service Engineer / ApplicationsEngineer Huntsman is seeking a Technical Service Engineer /Applications Engineer supporting the Polyurethanes Division locatedin Derry, NH or Auburn Hills, Michigan . Job Scope The primaryfocus of this role is to support the Americas Elastomers businessto achieve their short and medium term growth and profitabilitygoals. The Technical Service Engineer works closely with across-functional team to deliver technical solutions to customersin existing and new applications, help develop new products as wellas troubleshooting issues that customers may have with existingproducts, through laboratory experimentation, product/applicationdevelopment, field trials, customer technical service support, andother activities. This is an intermediate position on the HuntsmanPolyurethanes Technical Ladder.

The main duties include:

planningand implementing laboratory projects, providing technical servicesupport to customers and conducting field trials of new and/ormodified products. In terms of laboratory programs, incumbents haveability to work independently, with less direction from theTechnical Service Manager. Incumbents are expected to execute andmanage projects as a result of their laboratory, technical service,and field trial work. At this level, work programs are generally ofa more routine and short range nature, although some more complexand non-routine projects may be encountered and assigned.

Incumbents perform independent technical service in support ofcustomers. Ability to assume a leadership roles in less complex,routine trials. More complex, or non-routine trials may be assignedas well. The main internal contacts for this role are – TechnicalService, Sales, Marketing, Technology & Innovation, TestingServices, Industrial Hygiene, Site Services. Customer contacts forthis role are primarily at the plant technical level, and generallyinclude technical, production, and quality assurance personnel.

Some contact with more senior personnel, such as technical andcommercial directors may also occur. . In summary, as the TechnicalService Engineer / Applications Engineer, you will: ProvideTechnical Service Support to customers building strongrelationships with key customer contacts, prompt resolution ofproblems related to the use of our technology and products, anddemonstrate the differentiation of Huntsman Elastomers Participatein Customer Trials effectively demonstrating ourtechnology/products which result in the successful sales by thecommercial team to increase the value of our business. Prepareefficient and effective project plans in order to establish a soundbasis for developing new products or modifications to existingproducts/applications and/or to provide technical service tocustomers. Provide support to Elastomers Development Teams whennewly developed products or technologies need to be validated bycustomers by organizing and supervising customer trials, eitherdirectly or using the resources available in the TS team. Conductlaboratory investigations in order to develop new products,application technologies and/or to provide technical servicesupport which demonstrates the ability to effectively resolve avariety of moderately complex technical service or productdevelopment/modification challenges. All work must include wellwritten concise reports which are completed on time and exhibitrigorous data analysis skills. Ensure state-of-the art know-how isavailable in terms of technical info on Huntsman and on competitiveproducts and it is provided upon request to the commercial team tosupport action in the market. Continuously improve know-howavailable to the team in terms of manufacturing technology used bycustomers, participating to selected conferences, fairs,exhibitions and open days organized by equipment suppliers. Fullycomply with all safety, health and environment guidelines,according to site and company standards. Ensure and enforce strictadherence to EHS company guidelines in all areas, including pilotplant, laboratory and other tech facilities, customer facilitiesduring trials and external test laboratories during external tests.

Ability to coach, counsel and mentor more junior technicalassociates and technicians through utilizing various leadershipstyles. Qualifications You must possess the below minimumqualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimumrequirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying topcandidates. The candidate must have an unrestricted right to workfor Huntsman in the United States. Minimum Qualifications Bachelorsdegree in Plastic Engineering, Polymers, Chemistry, ChemicalEngineering, or Material Science. Minimum of 5 years ofprofessional technical experience in product and applicationdevelopment, and/or technical service in Thermoplastics ElastomersIndustry, TPU (thermoplastic polyurethanes) or plastics hands onprocessing experience (extrusion-preferred but can be injectionmolding). 5 years of experience in customer facing technical roleswith the ability to interview both technical and non-technicalpersonnel at customers to define new opportunities and/or problemand provide potential solutions. Willingness to travel up to 50% ofthe working time, mainly in North America, is mandatory. Occasionaltravel to Europe or APAC is possible. Skills and KnowledgeExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal andwritten communication skills. Applied knowledge on how materialcharacteristics like make up, Molecular Weight, rheology andthermal properties affect processing and final product. Ability tocoach, counsel and mentor more junior technical associates andtechnicians through utilizing various leadership styles. PreferredQualifications Extrusion and/or injection molding experience.

Managerial experience Working Environment Capable of lifting andcarrying 45 pounds (20kg) over a short distance.
