Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to support a strategic initiative focused on modernizing legacy COBOL systems. This role involves close collaboration with Mainframe COBOL developers and the use of IBM Watson X for Code Conversion to transform legacy code into modern Java-based applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong Java expertise, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to work in a cross-functional environment. Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with COBOL developers to understand legacy code and business logic.
Use IBM Watson X for Code Conversion to assist in transforming COBOL code into Java.
Analyze, refactor, and optimize converted code for performance and maintainability.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation of converted modules.
Document technical processes and provide knowledge transfer to team members. Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Java application development.
Proficiency in Java 8 or higher.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Experience working in cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with Mainframe environments and COBOL concepts.
Willingness to learn and work with IBM Watson X for Code Conversion or similar tools.
Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in legacy system modernization projects.
Exposure to DevOps practices and tools.
Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and middleware.
