Job Summary:
NextGen Software Solutions is hiring a highly experienced Mainframe
COBOL / JCL
Developer for a leading financial services client in Berkeley Heights, NJ. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and other mainframe technologies with a strong understanding of financial or banking systems. This is an onsite role requiring hands-on development and support in a high-volume, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
Analyze, debug, and enhance legacy applications as per business requirements.
Perform impact analysis and technical documentation for change requests.
Execute batch processing jobs and ensure SLA adherence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, Business Analysts, and other developers.
Provide support during integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production releases.
Participate in performance tuning and system optimization.
Ensure adherence to coding standards, security protocols, and compliance guidelines.
Required Skills & Experience:
8+ years of experience in Mainframe application development.
Proficiency in
COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS.
Experience working with mainframe scheduling tools like Control-M or Tivoli.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in a large-scale enterprise environment.
Experience in financial services or banking domain is highly preferred
.
Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Mainframe modernization strategies or migration projects.
Exposure to Mainframe testing tools like File-AID, Abend-AID, or Expeditor.
Familiarity with ticketing systems like ServiceNow or JIRA.
