Paychex North America, Inc. seeks Software Engineer IV (Rochester, NY)

Job Duties:

Provide technical direction, working in an agile environment, performing requirement validation, executing proof of concept activities, designing, developing and implementing web and service-based applications while mentoring team members.

Duties include:

1.Design, develop and document new software integrations, components, services using Java running in a Docker container which is deployed to Openshift. a.

Services will utilize Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Cloud, OpenFeign as part of the Spring framework to make development faster. b.

Utilize Salesforce.com and Oracle E-Business Suite APIs to design and develop integrations. c.

Incorporate all required security protocols for services and integrations (internal or 3rd party).d.

Utilize Kafka to facilitate event streaming between producers and consumers. e.

Utilize logging provided by Splunk, Openshift, Salesforce.com and Oracle EBS to troubleshoot and resolve errors.f.

Design, develop and document SQL and PL/SQL logic to customize and extend base capabilities within the Oracle E-Business Suite.g.

Design, develop and document critical reporting functions utilizing BI Publisher.2.Utilize the above technologies to complete complex program changes to translate requirements and design (architectural and detail level) into working and reliable code;3.Execute “Proof of Concept” activities to test out the viability of new technologies and programming concepts;4.Provide detail design for story work for each sprint in the quarter for their agile team;5.Coordinate the definition of tasks, gather estimates for user stories for a given project in preparation for Release Planning;6.Coordinate planning and identify dependencies for agile teamwork in preparation for Quarterly Idea Day planning sessions;7.Coordinate with the team’s scrum master to track team’s progress against commitments made at the sprint and quarterly intervals;8.Represent agile team in project level meetings;9.Plan, create, document, and execute automated unit test plans and test cases utilizing JUnit;10.Design and review QA test automation utilizing Java, Spring Test Framework, Mockito Framework and TestNG framework;11.Implement logging utilizing log4j;12.Develop Gradle, XLD, XLR scripts required to build and deploy applications to different server environments;13.Identify code, process and/or standard inefficiencies and implement best practices for performance tuning and optimization of application code;14.Perform defect analysis and resolution in development, test and performance environments;15.Perform code reviews submitted by team members, and propose necessary changes and efficiencies to ensure all code changes meet coding standards, business requirements and project specifications;16.Directly provide support for agile team members through coaching and mentoring and provide feedback to managers;17.Drive agile ceremonies, including story elaboration, backlog refinement, planning, daily standups and retrospectives, while tracking time as meeting and task work is performed.

All Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equiv.) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or closely related field, plus 5 years of experience in any software development role. Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include: 1)5 years of Java Programming/J2EE experience;2)5 years of experience in designing, developing applications and web services (SOAP, REST);3)3 years of experience utilizing Spring Framework;4)3 years of experience consuming from and producing to Kafka queues;5)3 years of experience interacting with an Oracle database utilizing SQL and PL/SQL;6)2 years of experience integrating with SalesForce.com using available APIs;7)2 years of experience integrating with Oracle E-Business Suite using available APIs; and8)2 years of experience utilizing BI Publisher to generate critical reporting.

Position requires participation in occasional on-call rotation coverage.
