Sr Software Engineer Position Available In New York, New York

Senior Software Engineer at Squarespace, Inc. (New York, NY)Perform as Senior Software Engineer on the Observability SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team.

Daily job duties include:

• Build high-quality software tools for utilization by Squarespace’s developers to track functioning inside and outside the company’s software stack, including Prometheus, Vector, Grafana and Lightstep.
• Design, build, and maintain the complex observability infrastructure of Squarespace’s platform using Java, Python, and Go.
• Collaborate with other engineers to ensure adherence to company protocols regarding instrumenting code and share responsibility for the company’s monitoring and alerting systems with Prometheus and Alertmanager.
• Perform advanced software reliability checks for Squarespace’s proprietary platform and its numerous software components.
• Build and deploy applications utilizing Kubernetes, Drone.
• Execute networking and configuration management using advanced software engineering technologies.

Role permits telecommuting approximately two (2) days per week and must be available during normal business hours U.S. ET. Role requires residing within normal commuting distance of HQ to facilitate onsite office visits approximately three (3) days per week.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, a related technical field or foreign equivalent, followed by five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a software engineering role.

Experience must include:

• Five (5) years of programming experience in at least one compiled language (Go, Java, C++) and one dynamic language (Python, Javascript, Ruby);
• Five (5) years of experience managing large-scale software and distributed systems in
• nix environments;
• Five (5) years of experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design practices;
• Four (4) years of experience with database design, storage, caching, scalability, and network fundamentals;
• Four (4) years of experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, or other CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) software;
• Three (3) years of experience with web application development; and
• Three (3) years of experience with Ceph or other storage clusters.
