The DevOps Engineer will help support the development and operation of Wawa’s web and mobile applications by assisting with cloud infrastructure tasks, CI/CD automation, system monitoring, and routine support duties. Work closely with experienced DevOps engineers and software developers to learn best practices and contribute to the stability, performance, and security of our platforms, including systems supporting wawa.com and wawarewards.com.

Principal Duties:

Assist with deploying and maintaining infrastructure in AWS, including server instances, load balancers, and other cloud infrastructure components. Contribute to building and improving CI/CD pipelines using tools like CodeFresh and Jenkins. Help configure and manage Linux servers and occasionally support Windows-based infrastructure. Support the automation of configuration and software deployments using tools like Ansible. Monitor system health and assist with troubleshooting performance or availability issues using tools such as CloudWatch and Datadog. Collaborate with development teams working on Java backend and React Native frontend to support deployments and updates. Assist in applying updates and patches to systems and software in line with company security standards. Document and follow internal processes for documentation, incident response, and change control. Participate in an on-call rotation and support after-hours incidents as part of the DevOps team.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred – or equivalent hands-on experience. 1-2 years of experience (including internships, co-op, or project-based) in a DevOps, infrastructure, or system administration role. Basic knowledge of AWS services and experience working with Linux systems. Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CodeFresh) and version control systems like Git. Exposure to scripting or programming (e.g., Bash, Python, or Java). Understanding of basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS) and common protocols. Interest in learning cloud automation, observability tools, and DevOps best practices Experience with MySQL database administration or query optimization. Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible or Terraform. Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or Logstash. Basic understanding of web server technologies (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, or IIS). Awareness of ITIL, PCI-DSS, or other IT operations and compliance frameworks.
