The Federal Civilian business unit supports many customersspanning the federal, commercial, and nonprofit space. Ourcustomers include NASA, the General Services Administration, Officeof Personnel Management, the Library of Congress, Health & HumanServices, and the FDIC. Primary Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Lead, you willbe responsible for working with leadership to shape the technicaldirection of the program, while gaining exposure into peoplemanagement. An Engineering Lead is a people manager, leader, andmentor with the ability to cross-functionally lead programdelivery. You are an emerging subject matter expert that isdeveloping the skills to successfully lead through team members andeffectively communicate and execute against program andorganizational objectives. In this role, an Engineering Lead willsupport leadership in partnering with peers to meet deliveryrequirements. Primary expectations of an Engineering Lead include:

  • Develops an understanding of program scope, schedule and costmanagement; with the support of leadership, articulates contractualdelivery requirements to team members
  • Provides coaching anddevelopment to engineering team members, and works with leadershipto define growth goals and development plans, and creates a culturewhere people can learn and evolve
  • Serves as a mentor, supportingone or two teams Engineers in technical direction and careermanagement
  • Leads team processes and seeks out best practices tofill gaps
  • Develops collaboration skills to partner with keystakeholders to represent the engineering practice in advocatingfor the best technical solutions while communicating tradeoffs
  • Development of effective written communication and presentationskills to describe systems, design decisions, and past performance
  • May participate in bid-writing, tech demos, strategic planning,and other client-facing communications
  • Presents programs ongoingengineering work, future goals, and risks
  • Development ofinfluential skills to translate and communicate technicalchallenges and roadmaps
  • Participates in interviews with newcandidates and develops/grades homework
  • Responsible for hiring,performance management, timecard reviews, PTO management and teamdevelopment
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 yearsof experience
  • Expert level experience in Java
  • 2 years ofmentoring and coaching experience; experience with communicatingand leading tasking efforts to support delivery
  • Extensiveexperience with software development, customer interactions, formaland informal communication, and mentorship
PreferredQualifications:
  • General understanding of government contractingrequirements and regulations
