Contract-to-Hire (6 months)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Technical Architect to support the launch of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Columbia, SC. This role will work closely with the Operational Technology (OT) team to design and integrate systems that monitor and control plant-floor operations, bridging the gap between IT and industrial technology.

Ideal Candidate:

A hands-on Technical Architect with a deep understanding of manufacturing operations and industrial automation

Not expected to program PLCs/HMIs, but must understand interface requirements and how these systems interact.
Strong background in design, planning, and implementation of integrated technology environments.
Someone who thrives in a collaborative setting, working across teams to build connected, efficient, modern manufacturing ecosystems

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong experience designing and integrating manufacturing-focused systems
.
Working Experinece of PLC, HMI, and MES technologies
.
Familiarity with enterprise integration (MES to ERP systems like SAP/Oracle).
Experience architecting IT/OT infrastructure in manufacturing environments.
Excellent documentation and physical design skills
, down to network ports and power/cooling layouts.
Proven ability to translate technical and operational requirements into scalable, maintainable architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and architecture of manufacturing systems with a focus on automation and control.
Develop and document technical architecture for PLCs, HMIs, and MES, ensuring smooth integration with enterprise IT systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle ERP).
Define and design system interfaces between:
PLCs and HMIs
HMIs and MES
MES and ERP
Enable seamless communication between plant-floor equipment and business systems

Migrate legacy OT applications into a modern Greenfield environment
, including integration with Active Directory.
Produce detailed physical architecture documentation
, including:
Rack layouts, floor plans, and server summaries
Network diagrams with port mapping, firewall rules, container configurations
IP addressing plans and virtual guest configurations
Product/license tracking and implementation strategies
