Description:

Scope of the project: The client employs a multi-tiered architecture in its core businesssystems. The business application tier utilizes Micro Focus VisualCOBOL running under IIS on MS Windows 2019 servers. This assignmentwill support development of new business functions andtroubleshooting, modification, and enhancement of existingfunctions in this environment within the existing clientapplication framework. Projects may include business logic supporting online systems,batch programming, data extraction, and reports involving allclient business areas. This engineer will work closely and will beinvolved with both the UI tiers-which are MS .NET applications(VB.NET, C#.NET)-and the database tiers in both SQL and Oracle. Production troubleshooting support will be expected, so some levelof production support experience is required. This contractor willbe expected to work with minimal supervision, will be in directcontact with business area specialists, and will develop technicalapproaches and designs, code, test, and support these functions.

Communication skills must be excellent.

Daily duties / responsibilities:

Analyze the client web service, and batch business applications Take the lead in analyzing and trouble-shooting assigned systemproblems Propose solutions Code, test, promote, and interact with impacted users ensuring thatsolution meets requirements. Provide daily and weekly status to the development manager. Required Skills (rank in order of Importance): COBOL development with

MICROFOCUS

Visual COBOL using Visual Studio2019/2022 in Windows Server 2022 under IIS. Preferred Skills (rank in order of Importance): Visual Studio 2019 and higher – Debugging IIS configuration/setup Microsoft Team Foundation Server Microsoft C# .NET Application programming against RDBMS (Oracle, SQL). SQL for Oracle DB.

Required education:

Prefer bachelor’s degree in information technology relateddiscipline with 8 years of experience or minimum 10 years relatedexperience.

Required certifications:

Not required but MS technical certifications will be factored inthe selection process. Microfocus certifications are a significant advantage
