Cobol Programming Developer Job Summary:

Talent SoftwareServices is in search of a Cobol Programming Developer for acontract position in Chattanooga, TN. The opportunity will be sixmonths with a strong chance for a long-term extension.

PrimaryResponsibilities/Accountabilities:

Formulates and defines systemscope and objectives through research and fact-finding to design,develop, modify, or integrate complex information systems. Devisesor modifies application systems and procedures to optimizefunctional requirements including capacity, operating time,response time, and form of desired results. Designs, codes, tests,debugs, and documents programs, subroutines, and scripts. May serveone or more project team roles, such as project lead, businesssystems analyst, or technical lead, for small to medium efforts ormanage phases of medium to large efforts. Maintains technical skillset for software languages, databases, platforms, operatingsystems, utilities and networks needed to support work assignments.

Responds to system failures and performance events by takingappropriate measures to reduce system downtime and eliminaterecurrence of problems. Regularly provides guidance and training toless-experienced analysts/programmers.

Qualifications:

1 year

• Experience with information technology concepts, applicationdevelopment methodology, terminology, and standards required 3years
• Systems and programming experience required 1 year
• Expertworking knowledge of at least one programming language (COBOL).

Proven skill with information technology mainframe is requiredProven analysis, design, and coding skills, and demonstratedsuccess in leading large and complex projects Demonstrated abilityto interpret and translate technical and/or or complex conceptsinto information meaningful to project team members and/or businesspersonnel. Be organized, reliable, and able to manage multipletasks with exceptional work ethic. Leadership skills Must be ableto communicate effectively with both technical and non-technicalco-workers General Mainframe Cobol Understanding/Technical SkillsBasic Financial Processes Understanding/Knowledge Bachelor’s Degreein Business, Computer Science or equivalent work experiencerequired. Equivalent years of experience are determined as one yearof technical experience for every year of college requested.
