Guide teams in modernizing legacy systems into scalable, event-driven microservices Provide leadership on modular, micro-frontend patterns using scalable UI technologies. Collaborate closely with DevOps on CI/CD and observability strategy. Ensure security best practices are embedded into architectural design Serve as a mentor for senior engineers, driving technical excellence across the organization. Stay current with emerging cloud, streaming, and architectural trends that can help us continuously evolve our platform capabilities.
Requirements:
5+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with 2+ years in architecture roles. Strong understanding of cloud-native application design, microservices, and distributed system patterns. Experience designing highly available, scalable REST APIs and event-driven architectures. Hands-on experience with modern front-end architectures. Deep understanding of identity management, authentication flows, and secure authorization models. Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and business stakeholders. Experience balancing fast delivery timelines with long-term technical strategy and platform stability. Prior experience working in media, streaming, or subscription SaaS platforms is a plus. Passion for mentoring engineers, sharing knowledge, and elevating team technical maturity. Why Join TEGNA? You’ll be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking engineering organization building modern digital products at scale. This is an opportunity to help shape not only our apps but the underlying architecture that powers personalization, content management, streaming, and video delivery across all of TEGNA’s media properties. We are investing heavily in AI-assisted development, modern cloud-native services, and flexible architecture patterns that allow our teams to innovate quickly while delivering high-quality, high-impact products for our users.
