Software Engineering Manager (W2) Position Available In Hamilton, Tennessee

Description The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of 8-9 engineers who are building the tools that power the freight platform. The ideal candidate should have a passion for tackling hard problems. Be a veteran who knows how to get things done, and how-to future-proof our architecture and implementations to scale for years to come. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping the definition, vision, design, roadmap and development of all of the systems. AWS Cloud environment.

• Partner with leadership, engineers, program managers and stakeholders to understand system needs.
• Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Own the development lifecycle with a focus on developing new features and functionalities for assigned software applications
• Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all the team deliverables.
• Know how to write high quality distributed system software.
• Work in an agile development environment, where you are always working on the most important stuff.
• Mentor, teach, and coach other engineers to improve their engineering skills and responsibilities.
• The candidates need to be located in Chattanooga or willing to relocate. Must be on-site 3 days per week.
• Immediate project: They’ll be writing enhancements for the brokerage business.

Large Initiative:

AS400 Migration. Currently around 85% on-prem, 15% cloud. This person will be re-engineering. They’re looking to make plans and start this next year. Anticipate it will take 3 years to migrate off.
