This role focuses on designing, programming, and maintaining control systems that enable safe, efficient, and compliant operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with PLC and HMI development, electrical panel design, and translating complex process requirements into effective automation solutions. This is a collaborative position that works closely with engineering, compliance, and operations teams across all phases of project implementation.
Job Responsibilities:
Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) to support water treatment operations. Create and modify electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD or equivalent tools. Integrate instrumentation and field devices into SCADA platforms to enable real-time control and monitoring. Develop supporting documentation such as I/O lists, control narratives, and system architecture drawings. Support FAT/SAT testing, on-site commissioning, and training for operations personnel. Perform root cause analysis on control system failures and implement corrective measures. Ensure system design and operation align with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
Automation Specialist Job Requirements:
Associates or bachelors in I&C Technology, industrial/electrical engineering or related field strongly preferred 2+ years of experience as an automation specialist, automation engineer or I&C specialist required Proficiency in PLC programming, designing, and troubleshooting using Ladder Logic, Function Block, or Structured Text. Experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC’s Experience with
HMI/SCADA
systems such as Wonderware, Ignition, or FactoryTalk. Experience working in CAD software, preferably AutoCAD Electrical Experience reading P&ID drawings is a plus
