About the job The SAS9 Visual Platform Products team is looking for a Career Software Development Engineer in Test to help elevate our quality engineering practices across legacy and modern platforms. You’ll play a key role in testing the full stack of SAS applications while also helping modernize our automated test infrastructure and supporting testing for desktop applications. As a Career Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will: Design and execute test strategies and complex environment configurations for a broad range of SAS 9 products within the Visual Platform Products area. Communicate effectively within a technical team environment, contributing to discussions with developers, product managers, and support teams. Identify opportunities for test process automation and lead efforts to implement scalable, maintainable solutions. Develop and interpret quality metrics to assess application health and guide ongoing quality engineering improvements. Collaborate closely with development, product, operations, and support teams to embed quality as a fundamental part of the software design and delivery process. Participate in code reviews across product, test, and infrastructure codebases to ensure quality and maintainability. Adhere to and promote secure software development practices, ensuring all applicable security policies and procedures are followed throughout the development lifecycle. Required qualifications Five years of experience writing software applications, testing software, and/or general programming. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related quantitative field. Proficiency in programming languages, especially Python. Comfort working in a Linux environment (command-line, scripting, file systems). General understanding of software development practices (source control, branching, code reviews). Experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts or frameworks. Familiarity with at least one test automation framework (e.g., PyTest, unittest, or similar). Understanding of test types (unit, integration, system, regression). Strong attention to detail and a natural focus on quality. Demonstrated adaptability in learning and working across multiple tech stacks (e.g., data systems, desktop, web). Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams Preferred qualifications Experience testing desktop applications using tools like WinAppDriver, FlaUI, Pywinauto, or TestComplete. Familiarity with web testing tools (e.g., Selenium or Playwright). Exposure to data testing or SAS validation (e.g., verifying calculations, data pipelines, or report accuracy). Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps). Familiarity with Git for version control and collaborative workflows. Comfort using logs and system tools to debug test failures or flaky tests. Exposure to API testing or using tools like Postman or pytest + requests.
