The Research Statistician I will contribute to pediatric research by applying both established and novel analytic methods under the mentorship of Drs. Yun Li and Jeff Gerber. This role is part of the biostatistics group at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), which includes multiple faculty members and statisticians. The statistician will be responsible for establishing and managing data cohorts, developing and applying statistical methods, and supporting manuscript preparation and grant proposals. They will utilize a range of statistical techniques, including linear and logistic regression, risk prediction, causal inference methods, missing data analyses, survival and longitudinal analyses, machine learning, and dynamic disease monitoring. Analyses will be conducted using diverse data sources, such as electronic health records, laboratory data, insurance claims, survey data, and biobanks. Research areas span various pediatric infectious diseases, implementation science, and health policy. Collaboration will be a key aspect of this role, as the statistician will work closely with interdisciplinary research teams consisting of clinicians, pharmacists, programmers, and project managers, as well as faculty biostatisticians from Penn and CHOP. CHOP This position follows a hybrid work model, with an on-site workspace available on the 10th floor of the Roberts Center for Pediatric Research. What you will do
Independently applies logic to set up cohort based on data plan as provided.
Manages and manipulates data.
Conducts statistical programming using statistical software
Learns and applies new statistical theory and techniques for ongoing projects or proposals.
Conducts statistical analysis
Supports the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the research group. Education Qualifications
Master’s Degree biostatistics, or a related field•Required Experience Qualifications
At least one (1) year Relevant experience•Required
At least two (2) years Experience in statistical programming languages in R and/or SAS-Required Skills and Abilities
Statistical expertise in programming of common statistical methods in medical and clinical related research
Familiar with database utilization in statistical analysis, like REDCap, MS Access, FileMaker Pro, Oracle, MS SQL server
Familiar with both UNIX system and Windows OS system
High-level of personal initiative; ability to work independently as well as collaborate in teams and with people from all business areas
Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly
