General Description:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, InformationGovernance, provides continuous technical and application supportfor the maintenance and installation of the Hospital InformationSystems (HIS) clinical information modules; evaluates, recommendsand educates users on effective use of components and applicationswithin the clinical modules to ensure efficient and effectiveutilization of automated systems; is primary liaison with clinicaland administrative hospital staff, medical staff, and HIS venderregarding clinical module issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinates the on-going functionality of the clinical modulesincluding evaluation and recommendation for expansion of onlinefunctionality to ensure feasibility, standardization integrationand adequacy of specifications. Collaborates and educates users on system functionalityalternatives. Meets at least quarterly with Clinical Coordinators(Lab, Radiology, Nursing, Home Health, et.) to assist with needassessment, project completion and problem resolution. Evaluates care delivery, patient satisfaction and works withstaff to resolve problems. Investigates and documents resolution ofvariance reports. Evaluates recommends, initiates, and assists withimplementation of new software, software enhancements, andapplication modifications for the clinical modules, directly orindirectly impacting the HIS system to ensure thorough testing andfunctionality. Retains competency as a team leader and participates in directcare delivery as needed. Evaluates, accesses, and recommends actionfor problem resolution, system implementation or enhancement as itrelates to the HIS clinical modules. Collaborates with Financial Systems Analyst and other teammembers to ensure effective and timely project completion. Develops training materials and course content for education ofusers, including physicians, on the clinical modules. Provides training to users on all shifts as appropriate toensure consistency in utilization of the CIS, and includes handson, one on one and classroom settings. Identifies and evaluates information needs in clinical areas todetermine needs that cannot be met with standard data elements andreports. As necessary, develops customized reports and creates datafields for capture of required information. Assists and/or establishes procedures, flow control ofinformation, testing protocols, and downtime procedures. Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations asit pertains to the work area.

Formal Education:
Associate’s Degree; Major(s) required: Health or computerrelated.

3 year to 5 years in healthcare setting
