Description of Work The Application Systems Analyst plays a central role in supporting, developing, and enhancing complex application systems within a collaborative IT team environment. This position provides business analysis, system design, programming, and production support for a variety of mission-critical applications. Responsibilities span the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering through implementation and support—and involve working directly with stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable automation solutions that meet evolving business needs. The analyst supports one or more major applications and is responsible for writing technical specifications, developing and optimizing SQL queries, performing system configurations, and creating test plans. The role also includes on-call support, production monitoring, and troubleshooting, with a strong emphasis on adherence to Agile practices such as Scrum and Kanban. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a solid foundation in both front-end and back-end technologies. This is a North Carolina-based position and will require periodic travel to Raleigh, NC for meetings and operational support.

Key Duties Include:

Design, develop, and maintain business application systems, including database queries, interfaces, and report generation. Lead or participate in requirement gathering sessions and produce documentation for technical specifications and solutions. Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database designs using platforms like Oracle and SQL Server. Support and enhance reporting solutions using SAP Business Objects (BOBJ) and Web Intelligence. Perform system administration, code reviews, and performance tuning for enterprise applications. Collaborate with Agile teams using methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban to deliver quality outcomes. Conduct functional and technical testing, create test plans, and support user acceptance testing (UAT). Provide production support, including debugging, monitoring, and resolving application issues. Maintain and update project documentation throughout the development lifecycle. Coordinate with stakeholders and technical leads to plan enhancements and system changes aligned with strategic goals.
