The Engineering Application Development Unit is responsible for the implementation, operation and maintenance of IT systems for the automation of engineering designs and processes. The candidate for this position will use their engineering experience to design, develop and support highly complex computer software applications for the analysis, design, and rating of structural engineering components. This position will act as a team lead for assigned projects and will be responsible for creating structural engineering calculations and validating the work of other team members assigned to the project. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following: Demonstrated experience with C#, Visual Studio and/or SQL Demonstrated experience developing and/or implementing highly complex information technology solutions to enhance enterprise success Software Engineering experience with industry standard Software Development Life Cycle methodologies The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred: Professional Engineering license (PE) in NC Experience designing and analyzing bridge or building structures using current AASHTO, ACI or AISC design codes Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job postings say you can qualify by an ‘equivalent combination of education and experience.’ If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in application consulting or development OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and six years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. HYBRID/FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES

If you do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned duty station, new hires are granted up to 120 days from their start date to relocate.
