40 Job Description The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. The Department of Youth and Community Development is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented College Aide to support its Agency Operations team. This position offers a unique opportunity for current student to gain hands-on experience in public sector operations, data analysis, and interdepartmental coordination within city government.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the coordination and tracking of agency-wide initiatives and projects. Support efforts to improve operational processes and enhance organizational efficiency. Conduct data entry, validation, and quality assurance tasks to ensure accuracy and consistency across internal systems. Help develop and maintain tracking tools and dashboards for performance metrics and project milestones. Contribute to research and analysis related to agency operations, including the development of presentations and reports. Collaborate with internal departments including Procurement, Fiscal, Human Resources, Administrative Services, IT and Legal to support cross-functional projects and compliance efforts. Assist with administrative tasks and documentation related to project management and internal initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school. For Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods. Preferred Skills
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program, preferably in Public Administration, Business, Data Analytics, Political Science, Information Systems or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint) familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in government operations, public policy, or organizational development.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff across Public Service Loan Forgiveness As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
