Sr Analyst, Software Asset Management Job Summary:

The Sr System Analyst on the Software Asset Management team is responsible for software requisition handling, extensive Excel analysis, reviewing software license agreements, and ensuring license compliance to support audit readiness. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and expertise in Software Asset Management tools and governance practices .

Responsibilities:

Manage and resolve tickets in the ServiceNow queue , ensuring efficient issue resolution and a customer-focused approach . Create and maintain documentation , including knowledge base articles for internal reference. Ensure compliance with Software Asset Management policies and promote effective software lifecycle management . Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support license renewals, resolve software license risks, and implement mitigation strategies . Retrieve, normalize, and present large data sets in a structured format to provide actionable business insights . Perform ad-hoc analyses using advanced Excel functions across multiple data sources to optimize software usage and licensing . Make business decisions impacting software expenses and license compliance based on thorough data analysis and strategy . Deliver reports, operational tasks, and data insights to support Operational Reviews . Review and interpret software license agreements , ensuring compliance with rules, obligations, and software usage policies . Lead complex analysis efforts for major Nordstrom technology initiatives , demonstrating depth in functional and technical expertise . Maintain familiarity with software license governance for various vendors (e.g., Oracle, IBM, Microsoft ).

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of professional experience in Software Asset Management . 2+ years of audit/compliance experience . Professional certifications such as CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager) preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field . Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency , including pivot tables, formulas, and data visualization tools . Experience querying and structuring data for data-driven decision-making and troubleshooting . Ability to present complex quantitative data in an intuitive format for leadership review. Excellent written and verbal communication skills , ensuring clarity for both technical and non-technical audiences . Process improvement expertise , including workflow analysis and optimization . Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities , with adaptability in fast-changing environments . Influencing skills , capable of driving buy-in and stakeholder engagement without direct authority.
