is seeking a qualified professional candidate for the position of IT Systems and Security Analyst. This position will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity, security, and efficiency of the city’s information technology systems. This position is approved for the FY2026 fiscal year and will not begin before August 1, 2025. The IT Systems and Security Analyst performs skilled technical work planning, designing, installing, managing, and optimizing enterprise servers, workstations, and related systems to ensure consistent high performance, maximum availability, and reliability across City operations. This position plays a key role in supporting critical infrastructure and enterprise systems, requiring independent judgment and initiative under the general supervision of the Information Technology Director. Essential Duties Include (but are not limited to): Plans, installs, manages, and optimizes the City’s Microsoft Windows Server environment, virtual infrastructure (e.g., VMware), and Active Directory. Administers and supports Office 365, PowerBI, Tyler ERP, and other enterprise systems used across departments. Implements and enforces security protocols to ensure compliance with CJIS, HIPAA, and PCI DSS regulations; safeguards all protected data. Maintains system-wide backups, disaster recovery procedures, and email retention/security solutions. Troubleshoots complex infrastructure issues and provides 24/7 technical support for mission-critical systems. Monitors and maintains server performance, patching, and capacity planning; develops system documentation and IT policies. Train users on systems and pursue ongoing professional development to stay current with evolving technologies. Performs other duties as assigned to support operational needs.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, with at least two (2) years of relevant experience. Strong technical knowledge in Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, virtualization (VMware, Nutanix), and backup solutions. Familiarity with database management (e.g., MS SQL), scripting (e.g., PowerShell), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, VMware, or AWS preferred. Prior local government experience is highly desirable.

Position Details:

This is a full-time position performed on-site. This is not a remote-work IT position. Work schedules may vary depending on operational needs and will include occasional after-hours/on-call work for system maintenance and/or upgrades. This position requires the ability to lift and handle equipment and navigate both office and technical environments.

Special Requirements:

Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required.

Salary Range:
