Human Centered Design Strategist Key Role:

Lead strategic service design initiatives across the 1CDP platform, exploring all aspects of user experience to address complex public health challenges. Apply a full range of human-centered design methods—including heuristic evaluation, journey mapping, design studios, benchmarking, and user research—to develop a holistic understanding of user, platform, and systemic needs. Translate qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable recommendations for clients, designers, developers, and public health stakeholders. Use advanced skills and design expertise to inform platform strategy and service delivery, working independently with minimal oversight. Mentor team members and guide cross-functional collaboration to align service design outcomes with mission-critical public health goals.

Basic Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in service design, design strategy, or human-centered design roles focused on complex systems Experience applying human-centered design methods, such as heuristic analysis, journey mapping, co-creation workshops, benchmarking, and user research in regulated or public-sector environments Experience translating research findings into actionable service design recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders Ability to design and improve services within public health or social impact domains Ability to collaborate with and build trust among stakeholders, including government clients, health professionals, and community members Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

Experience with UX/UI and interaction design principles and tools, such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD Experience with business intelligence tools, such as QLIK or Tableau for synthesizing and visualizing data Experience designing or prototyping responsive digital platforms and services Knowledge of front-end development practices or data visualization techniques Possession of excellent writing and communication skills, including proposals, client-facing documentation, and strategic communications

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
