Job Description
Position Overview:
Want to use design to change the face of diabetes care? Join a mission-driven team working to improve the experience of living with diabetes through thoughtful, human-centered digital design. At Insulet, we’re investing in scalable, customer-focused digital experiences that support people across their entire journey with Omnipod. Insulet’s Digital Customer Experience (DCX) team is responsible for designing and delivering seamless, human-centered experiences across a broad and complex digital ecosystem. This includes platforms and tools that support a wide range of customers—from people with diabetes, to caregivers, to healthcare providers as well as internal teams such as sales, support, training, and customer success. We’re seeking a Staff UX Designer to lead strategic design initiatives that span multiple user types, touchpoints, and platforms. In this role, you’ll shape cohesive experiences across the customer journey, influence product direction, and elevate design quality across the DCX portfolio. As a staff level individual contributor, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners across North America and Europe, mentor peers, and drive measurable impact. Responsibilities Lead end-to-end UX design for complex, cross-platform digital experiences that support a wide range of customers—including healthcare providers, internal teams (e.g., sales, support, training), and external users—across onboarding flows, customer portals, data dashboards, and service tools. Own large-scale, often ambiguous design initiatives from discovery through delivery, setting vision and direction while collaborating with product managers, engineers, marketers, and CX stakeholders. Shape product strategy by advocating for customer needs, challenging assumptions, and ensuring design solutions balance user experience, business goals, and technical feasibility. Create and guide the creation of wireframes, prototypes, flows, and design specifications using tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Miro, Confluence, and Jira; clearly communicate design rationale through compelling visual and verbal storytelling. Partner with user research and human factors teams to integrate insights into design decisions and ensure solutions are safe, effective, and aligned with regulatory guidance where applicable. Apply and champion best practices in accessibility, usability, and responsive design to deliver inclusive, scalable, and intuitive experiences. Participate in agile development cycles, contributing to sprint planning and product roadmaps while advocating for user needs and experience quality. Collaborate with technical integration teams to ensure seamless experiences across connected platforms, including evaluating APIs, understanding data flows, and aligning branding and UX across systems. Define and track success metrics to evaluate and improve customer experience outcomes across the digital ecosystem. Mentor and support other designers, providing guidance through critiques, coaching, and knowledge sharing. Contribute to the evolution of Insulet’s design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment with brand and platform maturity. Drive continuous improvement of team processes, tools, and collaboration practices, helping to foster a strong, inclusive UX culture. Skills & Characteristics Visionary systems thinker with a strong grasp of complex, multi-user digital ecosystems. Expert communicator and facilitator who can align stakeholders across disciplines and leadership levels. Strategic and detail-oriented, with the ability to execute and influence at scale. Builds trust-based relationships and fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture. Strong visual and verbal storyteller who can drive alignment from vision to execution. Passionate advocate for inclusive design, accessibility, and user-centered thinking. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and leading others through it with clarity and confidence. High level of business and technical acumen; able to contribute meaningfully to technical and strategic discussions. Committed to mentoring others and raising the bar for design craft and collaboration. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Psychology, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or Interaction Design—or equivalent experience. 8+ years of experience in UX and product design, with a strong focus on delivering customer-centric digital products across multiple touchpoints (e.g., web, mobile, portals). Proven success leading strategic design initiatives and influencing product direction in cross-functional environments. Expert-level proficiency in modern UX and design tools, with a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality interaction and visual design. Strong working knowledge of usability principles, design heuristics, accessibility standards, and responsive design techniques. Experience designing for regulated industries or complex data environments is a plus. Strong portfolio required, showcasing design thinking, storytelling ability, and polished execution. Experience working in agile product development environments and using agile collaboration tools. Familiarity with user research methods and the ability to integrate insights into design decisions. Comfortable working in distributed teams across geographies. Experience with CX design, community design, portal design, and marketing collaboration is preferred. Intellectual curiosity and a desire to dig into the details of complex problems. Advanced prototyping skills (e.g., high-fidelity interactive prototypes) preferred.
