Web Developer, Lead Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) Georgia State University The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) at Georgia State University is a dynamic and diverse workplace that supports GSU’s research community and rapidly growing portfolio of sponsored projects. Last year, GSU faculty brought in $186 million in research funding, topping $100 million for the tenth consecutive year! The Office of Sponsored Programs at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a dedicated and experienced Web Developer, Lead. OSP is structured to provide targeted service to GSU’s research community.

There are three different teams:

pre-award, post-award and universal teams. This vacancy announcement is for a Web Developer, Lead, who will direct, and maintain technical applications used for enhancing the university research administration through technical application development and advanced data visualization and reporting, coordinate the team’s activities and provide professional expertise in cash management.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

As the Lead Web Developer, you will drive the technical advancement of university research administration. This includes designing and developing custom applications to streamline processes such as proposal tracking and budget forecasting. You will also be instrumental in integrating data from diverse sources to ensure accuracy and in creating interactive dashboards and reports for tracking key research metrics. Beyond development, you will contribute to the maintenance of existing systems, troubleshoot issues, and explore innovative technologies to enhance efficiency. Furthermore, you will provide leadership and mentorship to other staff, fostering effective collaboration within the Office of Sponsored Programs and other departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Responsible for designing and developing web applications using modern frameworks (Angular, React, NextJS), TypeScript, and JavaScript, focusing on scalability, performance, and user-friendly interfaces with strong UI/UX principles.
Creating, implementing and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports (using tools like Power BI and Tableau, etc) to effectively communicate research metrics and data to stakeholders.
Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into functional technical solutions, including the development of RESTful APIs and integration with back-end services.
Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior developers and OSP staff on system functionality related issues, documenting technical specifications, and staying updated on emerging technologies.
Optimizing application performance, ensuring robust security measures to protect sensitive research data, and assisting with the implementation of new systems.
