In this role, you’ll work on technically challenging projects involving advanced customizations, performance tuning, and feature development across WordPress and WooCommerce ecosystems. As a small, collaborative team, your contributions will have a meaningful impact from day one. With a flat organizational structure, you’ll also have a voice in shaping how we approach projects and processes. What You’ll Be Doing Architect and build custom WordPress sites and WooCommerce stores from scratch or by extending core functionality. Develop complex custom plugins and features that integrate external APIs (REST or GraphQL) with WordPress or WooCommerce. Review and audit existing sites for performance, code quality, and scalability improvements. Translate Figma designs into high-quality code using custom themes or plugins. Provide ongoing support for implementation issues, bug fixes, and client questions. Collaborate with designers and project managers to assess scope feasibility and technical strategies. Conduct code reviews and QA on peer developer work to ensure high quality and accuracy. Follow version control best practices using Git/GitHub. Document technical implementations clearly for team use and future reference. What We’re Looking For Expert-level knowledge of WordPress and WooCommerce Strong experience in PHP , MySQL , HTML , CSS , and JavaScript Proficiency with plugin development and customization of popular plugins like Gravity Forms , ACF , and WooCommerce extensions Experience building and maintaining custom plugins and custom themes Familiarity with modern development tools such as Redis , MariaDB , Nginx , and Cloudflare Experience developing with the Gutenberg block editor and using third-party block libraries Ability to write secure, optimized code following WordPress best practices (hooks, sanitization, performance) Formal agency experience and client communication skills are a big plus Competence using version control (Git/GitHub) Ability to work independently, manage your time effectively, and consistently deliver high-quality results Comfortable interfacing directly with clients and assisting with technical estimates when needed Bonus Points Experience working with HPOS (High-Performance Order Storage) and speeding up WooCommerce stores Understanding of scalable hosting configurations (e.g. Varnish, object caching) React and Vue frontend frameworks What We’d Like to See Portfolio or code samples showcasing your work with custom plugins and themesExamples of problem-solving with real-world WordPress or WooCommerce challenges Work Environment & Schedule 100% remote (global), or hybrid if based in Georgia, USA Standard working hours: ~9 AM – 5 PM EST, flexible with ~5-7 hours net productivity per day Weekly team meetings on Tuesdays via Zoom You’ll need your own device, webcam, mic, and a reliable internet connection What We Offer (after 3-month trial period) Competitive salary based on experience Paid vacation and holidays Health stipend (U.S. only) Retirement plan (U.S. only) Great work/life balance — we don’t expect late nights or weekends Provision of high-quality tech equipment Additional Notes We use EverHour for time trackingThe hiring process includes a test task and several interviews The selected candidate will begin with a 3-month trial period before transitioning to full-time employment If you’re ready to build meaningful solutions, collaborate with a driven team, and grow in a role where your skills are truly valued, we’d love to hear from you.
