LCUA Job Summary:
The Lead Cross Utilized Agent is expected to be able to, understand, perform, and rotate between the duties of a Customer Service Agent and a Ground Operations Agent. The Lead Cross Utilized Agent will also coordinate and direct other agents in their assigned duties. The Lead Cross Utilized Agent is responsible for providing customer service to all customers, including scheduled or charter services. Cross Utilized Agents must be attentive to the customer’s needs, politely handling their inquiries promptly, and completing the required transactions per company policy and procedures. The Lead Cross Utilized Agent is also responsible for the handling of customer baggage, including loading and unloading on and off the aircraft, marshaling in and pushing back the aircraft, operation of ground service equipment (GSE), meeting arriving flights, providing service to departing flights, assisting customers with special needs, assist customer service agents, as needed, and any other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Duties:
The Lead Cross Utilized Agent will fulfill basic supervisory duties for agents in the absence of, and at the direction of, the Station Manager, Station Supervisor, or Regional Manager. The Lead Cross Utilized Agent will have the additional job of ensuring the smooth operations of the current shift and assigning agents to specific tasks for that shift. The Lead Cross Utilized Agent will, in most cases, serve and be qualified as a Ground Security Coordinator. The Lead Cross Utilized Agent will be qualified as a trainer.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate must be people oriented, highly motivated with a positive and friendly attitude. Process tickets, check baggage, monitor carry-on baggage for size and quantity, and assign seats. Provide information on arrival and departure times, boarding procedures, carry-on regulations, and seat assignments. Handle denied boarding situations, solicit volunteers, re-accommodate customers, and provide hotel, meal, and taxi vouchers when appropriate. Ensure compliance with FAA, TSA, airline, and airport regulations. Enforce safety/security measures and monitor sensitive safety zones. Assist Customers with special needs, i.e., Customers who need assistance in boarding Ad hoc assignments as requested by the Lead or Supervisor. Complete required reports. Meet arriving flights at baggage carousel to ensure proper handling of bags. Monitor’s baggage carousel for unclaimed baggage. Stores unclaimed bags in baggage service office until claimed or turned over to system baggage services. Handles delayed baggage issues, ensuring a written report is completed and follows up with customers until the bag is located, or the file is sent to systems baggage services. Inform customers of airline policies and procedures, re: lost, damaged, or replacement baggage and pilferage claims. Provides consequential expenses to applicable customers when there is a delayed bag. Ensure delivery of baggage to the affected customer for late arriving or miss-loaded bags. Follow-up with customers regarding lost baggage, replacement of damaged bags, car seats, strollers, etc. Trace loaner wheelchairs, car seats, etc. Track replaced, damaged, and miss-loaded baggage. Assists with lost and found articles. Load and unload baggage and co-mail of various weight and dimensions to and from aircraft and applicable airport baggage areas. Operate ground service equipment. Marshal aircraft to and from gates. Provide proper handling of baggage requiring special care. Service aircraft lavatories. Responsible for aircraft security searches and commissary security searches as required. Ensure ramp areas are safe and free of Foreign Objects Debris (FOD) and that all ground service equipment is properly maintained. Follow safety regulations, which include the proper use of ground service equipment and wearing proper safety items. Operate heavy, motorized machinery/equipment including, but not limited to tugs, tractors, belt loaders, bag carts, push-back tractors, deicers, etc. Able to communicate using a two-way radio. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Perform aircraft interior cleaning as required. Stock aircraft and carts with necessary supplies as required, i.e., in flight magazines and lavatory supplies. Inventory tracking as required. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED required. Previous Customer Service preferred, however not required. Previous supervisory experience is preferred, however not required. Must be certified or be willing to be certified in a Ground Security Coordinator training class.
Physical Requirements:
Airport Agent – Team Member is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and use hands and fingers to operate various types of tools and equipment (i.e., hand trucks, carts, ramps, tugs, etc.). May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 100 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation (i.e., split shifts, delayed flights, etc.). Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to heights, small spaces, extreme noise (i.e., airport with planes, vehicles, and other machinery), temperature, wind, and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to crawl in and out of small spaces for extended periods of time. Ability to wear personal protective gear.
