Qualifications:

1. Possess and maintain a valid Alabama bus driver certificate and commercial driver’s license (CDL) in accordance with bus route/assignment, including special education recertification as applicable2. Maintain a current Department of Transportation (DOT) physical as required by Board Policy3. Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-4574. Show aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities5. Possess and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record including no DUI convictions6. Possess successful drug screening results and be subject to and pass subsequent drug screening tests7. Competent written and verbal communication skills8. Ability to operate a school vehicle over an assigned route according to a defined time schedule, which may require driving during pre-daylight and dusk periods9. Physical dexterity, coordination, mobility and visual acuity to safely operate school bus or other system-owned vehicles and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections10. Ability, agility and stamina to engage in prolonged sitting, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching11. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds12. Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force13. Physical ability to perform all duties and responsibilities as specified by state and federal regulations, including but not limited to pre-trip inspections, post-trip inspections, and bus evacuations14. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance15.
