JOB TITLE
Bus Driver
JOB GOALS
To assist in providing safe transportation so the students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program.
REPORTS TO
Transportation Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be physically and mentally capable of performing duties and responsibilities involved in driving a bus. Must have current Alabama bus driver’s license. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Obeys all traffic laws. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus. Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority. Sweeps and cleans assigned bus daily; washes assigned bus at least twice per month. Keeps to assigned schedule. Checks bus after each operation for mechanical defects and vandalism and reports any problem to the proper authority. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness. Discharges students only at authorized stops. Exercises responsible leadership when on out of district school trips. Transports only authorized students. Reports all accidents and completes required reports. Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.

Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Salary in adherence and compliance with approved salary schedule.
